Peer Supervision

InSight Peer Support can provide Peer Supervision

In the state of Arkansas, peer support specialists are required to receive regular supervision to ensure they are providing effective support to their peers and adhering to professional standards.

Peer support specialist supervision is important for several reasons.

  1. It helps to ensure that peer support specialists are providing appropriate support to their peers.
  2. Supervisors can help peer support specialists identify areas where they may need additional training or support, and provide guidance on how to handle challenging situations.
  3. Supervision helps to ensure that peer support specialists are adhering to professional standards and ethical guidelines. Peer support specialists are often working with vulnerable populations, and it is important that they conduct themselves in a professional and ethical manner at all times.
  4. Peer support specialist supervision can help to prevent burnout and compassion fatigue. Peer support specialists may be exposed to intense emotional situations, and it is important that they have a support system in place to help them cope with the stresses of their job.

Peer support specialist supervision is typically provided by a Certified Peer Recovery Peer Supervisor (PRPS). Peer support specialists are required to receive 25 hours of direct supervision, and their supervisors are responsible for monitoring their performance, providing feedback, and ensuring that they are adhering to professional standards.

Peer supervision is an important aspect of ensuring that individuals with mental health and substance use disorders receive effective and compassionate support from their peers.
